Building strong communities involves more than simply building quality homes. Community revitalization requires innovative, community-based solutions, patience and agility to keep pace with the ever-changing housing environment. Community development activities give residents and homeowners the opportunity to rebuild their lives and their neighborhoods.

The Tenant Advocate Program (TAP) utilizes community resources and works with tenants and tenant councils at New Neighborhoods managed properties to support residents with programs that can improve their lives and their neighborhoods.

In an effort to provide our tenants with the best available resources, New Neighborhoods has teamed up with established local and regional agencies with successful track records of providing a range of beneficial programs.

A full time TAP coordinator works in close consultation with New Neighborhoods Property Managers, encouraging and supporting tenants to TAP into their potential. The TAP coordinator works one-on-one and with groups to connect New Neighborhoods residents with programs that target self-sufficiency and life skills goals such as:

  • Employment and Job Advancement
  • Eviction Prevention
  • Health Care Screening
  • Credit Repair and Budgeting
  • Home Ownership
  • After-School Programs
  • Aging in Place
  • Neighborhood Improvement
