On Saturday, May 2, 2020 New Neighborhoods partnered with the City of Stamford and Bethel AME Church to provide COVID-19 testing for their residents and their neighbors on the west side of Stamford. The testing was offered at our senior properties; Belltown Manor and The Atlantic, with most of the tests being provided in Bethel AME Church’s parking lot where they tested around 250 people. This service was free to all residents and to all the people in the community who came out.
New Neighborhoods would like to thank Reverend Jackson from Bethel AME Church, Stamford Mayor David Martin, Congressman Jim Himes, DOCS Urgent Care, and all the volunteers who assisted our residents and their neighbors, for making all this possible. Everyone who was able to come and have their test taken was most appreciative and relieved to have access to the tests.
“We are very fortunate to have a great team at New Neighborhoods, our property management and staff spent several days making phone calls and passing out flyers to make sure that everyone who wanted to be tested could participate,” stated Jamey Healy, President and CEO. New Neighborhoods also helped those that wanted to do the test by pre-registering so there would be a smoother process at the testing location.
New Neighborhoods’ mission is “Building hope and opportunity through development and management of quality affordable housing and resident-centered services.” As we are working our way through this pandemic our mission of building hope through resident-centered services has never been more meaningful, nor as important.
