New Neighborhoods Receives Face Mask Donation from NAACP Stamford

The NAACP Stamford started a project called the “Personal Protective Mask Project”, where they planned to distribute masks for the most vulnerable people within Fairfield County. After hearing alarming local and national news stating that, African Americans and people of color with predisposed health conditions were at an increased risk of suffering and dying from the COVID-19 virus, they decided to start the project to help their community. With the collaboration of 100 Black Men of Stamford, Inc., Delta Nu Boule, local chapter of National Council of Negro Women, Inc., The FELLAS Inc., Mayor Martin, Congressman Jim Himes, Vince Tufo of the Vita Partnership, Shop Rite’s Tom Cingari Jr., volunteers and the City’s public health and safety team, more than 14,000 have already been donated.

New Neighborhoods was grateful to be a part of the recepients for this generous donation. We received donations to Friendship House, Stillwater Heights and Martin Luther King Jr. Apartments on April 20, 2020 and were delighted to receive another donation to The Atlantic and Belltown Manor on April 29, 2020. Our gratitude goes out to Guy A. Fortt, President of NAACP Stamford, all of NAACP Stamford, and all other participants of the Personal Protective Mask Project, this humble donation has brought joy and relief to many of our residents and to New Neighborhoods staff, as we are all trying to cope with the current shortage of supplies. We were also elated to hear that this act of kindness had been done in memory of our former resident Jack Bryant who recently passed due to the COVID-19 virus, he was a great resident and leader, who cared about our community. All of us at New Neighborhoods are thankful to have the NAACP Stamford as part of our community.

THANK YOU! From all of us at New Neighborhoods.
