New Neighborhoods, Inc.’s 4th Annual Winter Warm-Up

New Neighborhoods Winter Warmup

Christmas came early for New Neighborhoods, Inc.’s (NNI) residents as NNI hosted our annual Winter Warm-Up event.

The event took place at the Martin Luther King Jr. Apartments in Stamford, CT where residents enjoyed light refreshments, face painting and got a chance to write letters to Santa. Thanks to many generous donations, NNI was able to supply over 80 residents with coats, sweaters, pajamas, gloves, scarves, and hats to help prepare them for the chilly months ahead.

Not only did NNI residents receive winter accessories, all children in attendance received small gifts while adult residents got a chance to win an Amazon Fire Stick or $50 off next month’s rent. Teondra Holley, a resident of Stillwater Heights was one of the few residents who received $50 off next month’s rent. She said joyfully, “I’m excited and grateful to have received this prize and I am definitely going to utilize it. I feel that the event is beneficial to residents, it’s a really nice time for us to get together and be able to receive things that are a necessity.” Another NNI resident, Gina Smith, also commented on the event by saying “I believe the best life to live is one making a difference in someone else’s and that’s what New Neighborhoods often does.”

Vonda Pommills, NNI Tenant Advocate said, “This year was a great success. We had over 200 items donated in the hopes that everyone would be able to receive a coat, sweater or outerwear and once again, we achieved our goal. This is a great organization and we do a lot for our residents and our staff and it’s always a great success, we look forward to doing it again next year.”
